After 2 weeks with tech support for hydra we came to the conclusion that my wiring harness was wrong and the ignition set up was wrong as well. They werent sure how the previous owner got the car running but it wasnt right. It was also found that this hydra has the old software on it and could benefit from the newer version. So it was time to kick in a back up plan. I took the hydra out and ordered a new plug play harness. Plugged up my stock ecu and decided to run the big map roms so my stock ecu could read boost. I will run this for the time being or until i reach the limits of the stock ecu and then convert back over to the hydra ems.
In the past couple of weeks ive made lots of progress. Ive installed my 565cc injectors, vr4 fuel rails, aeromotive FPR, and walbro fuel pump. I scaled the injectors using ecu flash and it started up and idle perfectly. Then i removed everything to install this
Here’s a vid of me driving with my instructor in a HPDE session. I was on 225 all season tires with Evo 8 wheels. Im use to racing on 245 hoosier slicks and a lighter. Still had fun and was happy how the car performed.
Just got from a weekend at VIR. The car was solid all the way around. I found on issue with hard braking over 100mph the rear end gets squirmy. Possible solution is to run higher temp pad in the front. Hopefully before my next event ill have better tires and more power
Cut out my front bumper so nothing is blocking air flow to it before paint. Dropped the car off to ReSpec Garage again for a new paint job before the race season.
While the car was at ReSpec my built 6g72 motor showed up and I also added the rest of my roll bar padding to the whole roll cage
The car is ready for next weeks HPDE event. I only need to change my brake pads and the car is set
Still removing more stuff out of this car to make it light as possible. Passenger side air bag removed. Removed the sunroof as well and will be putting sheet metal over the hole to seal it.
Getting rid of my evo seats for some lighter sparco sprint V bucket seats. Still looking for a spot to mount the standalone. Ill probably remove more stuff under dash since it needs to close to the ecu plug ins
